What is Scrip?
Scrip is a term that means “substitute money” and is a fundraising activity used by SPNS to keep tuition low. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our school.

Scrip accounts for a significant portion of the school’s budget and helps to pay for such important things as operations, wonderful teachers and playground equipment. When you do your daily shopping at participating vendors, SPNS receives a portion of what you spend from the merchants.

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”!
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. SPNS families produce revenue for our school by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

Scrip

The Scrip program includes Electronic Scrip and Paper Scrip. eScrip is a program that tracks registered grocery card/credit card purchases at participating vendors and provides a donation to SPNS as a percentage of that purchase. Anyone can sign up at eScrip.com and choose to donate their proceeds to SPNS or split the proceeds between SPNS and another organization.

Another component of the Scrip program is the recycling of used laser/toner, inkjet, cell phones, iPods and laptops. Items are collected at the school and then sent off to be recycled and the school is given a credit for each item collected. Every item collected not only earns money for the school but also helps the environment by repurposing items originally destined for the landfill.
